The “brrrr” factor is amping up now and it’s reminding us of the times mami would bundle us up so tight we’d leave the house barely able to walk! But don’t worry, invierno doesn’t mean you have to stay stuck inside for the next five months. Here are some cool winter date ideas that can heat things up between you and your guy.

Go ice-skating
This is a timeless classic. Ice-skating is fun, usually inexpensive, and it can be done indoors or outdoors. Just make sure to rock your cutest hat, gloves, and scarf!

Hit up a coffee shop
Café con leche hits the spot when it’s cold outside. Invite him to have a cup of coffee at your local coffee shop or panaderia.

Bring back abuelita‘s cooking skills
Winter is the perfect time to bring out those old family recipes. Strew some sancocho or any cold-weather dish to warm him up.

Make it a lazy snow day
If you’re like most of us, Latinas and can’t stop complaining about el frio. So why not make it a snow day (whether it’s snowing or not)? Stay at home, make some hot cocoa, and watch a classic flick.

Bundle up and take a stroll through la calle
Mami’s weather proofing tactics can come in handy! Throw on your puffy coat and take a brisk walk through a local park or downtown area. These places are usually decorated for the holidays so save it for when it gets a little dark out so you can enjoy the lights.

Have a game night
Like one of your old family fiestas, bring out the dominoes, playing cards, or whatever game you love best. Put on your favorite música and have some bebidas with your man too!

Go to your local holiday festivals
Most towns have a local holiday festival for Thanksgiving and Christmas and they’re usually free. Take advantage of these local freebies and go check them out with your boyfriend for a quick, easy, and fun way to get out of the house.
