Family, friends, and fans will be able to pay their last respects to the late singer Etta James, who passed away last week on January 20, due to complications with leukemia.
It was announced recently that a public memorial service will take place on Friday, January 27, at theInglewood Park Cemetery’s Mortuary Chapel in California.
A private funeral will be held the following day, Saturday, January 28, at the Greater Bethany Community Church City of Refuge in Gardena, California.
Reportedly, Revered Al Sharpton will eulogize James’ life and celebrities will perform during the funeral service, though those names have not been announced.
Etta’s family has requested that donations be sent to the Rhythm and Blues Foundation in Philadelphia, which is an organization that aims to historically and culturally preserve R&B music.
She is survived by her husband, Artis Mills, sons Donto and Sametto James, and 7 grandchildren.
